By the way, you know that so-called fashion faux pas about mixing black and blue? Yeah, I totally don't agree with it.

I also recently picked up a bunch of Deborah Lippmann nail polishes, including the infamous Across The Universe. While I am not the biggest fan of glitter polish, Deborah Lippmann's unique use of glitters really drew me in. Across The Universe features blue glitter and teal and green hexagonal glitters suspended in a gorgeous dark blue jelly base.
The important thing to remember when working with glitters like this is to make sure you let each coat dry before applying another to avoid pulling the glitter out of place. I used four coats to reach opacity but I think you can get away with three.
This nail polish is pricey ($22 CDN) but I think it's worth it if you're looking for a very unique colour. For my fellow Canadians, you can find Deborah Lippmann at Murale stores (note: you can also earn/redeem your Shoppers Optimum Points for them!)
The nail color looks gorgeous.. and I love black and blue combos. You pulled it off very nicely. :) Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving weekend!
ReplyDeleteI used to *hate* turkey too, but now I enjoy it. Still not on the top of my list for our Thanksgiving. I prefer a nice baked ham. MMMM. I can't wait until November!! tee hee.
xx Love & Aloha

Love your HoH necklace. I was eyeing the khaki version on Revolve Clothing. I had no idea you aren't supposed to mix black and blue. i think they look great together.
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit! The Deborah Lippmann nail polish is to die for too bad I can't bring myself to pay that much for polish :(

I was reading Ines de la Fressange's book and apparently black and blue was a colour combination advocated by Yves St. Laurent himself. It's not a faux pas; it's chic!

omg black & blue are sooo compatible. I do it like aaalll the time! The soft colours of black and blue work sooo well with the stark contrast of your silver ring and gold watch. Un-freaking-believable! My brother owns a watch like yours. I think I'll "borrow" it for a day to try it out before going out to get one for myself. Great Job Elle!! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely in love with this look! I tend to gravitate to blues a lot and I am so loving that blouse, and the nail polish is amazing! I've actually found investing in nail polish has served me well...I used to feel so funny about shelling out $20 for nail polish before, but they tend to last longer and are usually so much prettier. Hope your week is off to a good start so far love!
