Hair Donut = Amazing Invention for Fine Hair

I've been attending a series of barre fitness classes over the past month and maybe it's the new ballerina in me (okay, I admit that calling myself a "ballerina" is stretching it just a bit) but I've been really into the whole hair bun thing lately. As you know, I pretty much never wear my hair up, so this is kind of a big deal.

Because my hair is super fine, my ponytails/buns always end up a little sad-looking and regular sock buns don't work well either because I don't have thick enough socks. Thankfully "hair donuts" exist. Hair donuts are these mesh/velcro donut-shaped things that you can create buns with using the typical sock bun method. However, they come in different sizes and colours to match your hair (plus you can find them on eBay for only 99 cents). But the best part, in my opinion, is that you can't even tell that my bun is basically 90% apparatus and 10% hair!

  3. Fine hair is definitely not a problem I've ever had but I'm always looking to make my updos more perfect and it's fun to see a good review of a hair donut, because I've been really intrigued by them. I would never have guessed your hair could make this kind of bun - it looks incredible!

  4. Like the boots. I want a pair like those. Barre Fitness sounds tough. I probably won't last 5 minutes.

    1. That's what I thought too but it actually gets easier as you go. The class I take is a lot more dance based so I have been learning a lot of techniques that were long since forgotten since I stopped taking ballet at age 9.

  6. YES!!! I love my donut, but I call it a hair rat because it looks so weird. Plus buns are perfect when your hair just iiiiisn't having it that day or when you only have five seconds to look halfway presentable.

  7. my sockbun (which I use an actual sock but also have a donut) is my saviour for bad hair days (which is basically everyday). I am in love with sock buns.

  8. Since discovering this a month ago, I've ordered about 6 and given them to my friends and family.

I don't have fine hair; I just have very straight asian hair with no volume whatsoever. I use this magical 0.99$ tool when my hair is wet / when I sleep and wake up with wavy hair!

    1. I love the wavy after-effect too! I should try sleeping with it on to cut down my getting ready time in the morning.

  10. Fine-haired girl problems! You look great with your hair up. I think I have something similar but it's plastic instead of velcro and rolls my hair up into a bun.

  14. I just entered my daughter in a ballet class - she loves all things ballet and always wants me to do her hair in a bun LOL!

I find I get quite a good bun size with just spin pins - but I do have a hair donut I bought at H&M, just haven't gotten round to trying it out - your bun looks gorgeous!
